I'm going to steal a little questionare I saw Hippie Family's Blog today. Its about getting back to the basics of blogging.
For me, I started this blog to keep track of my days with Zander. He is growing so fast and doing so many things that I want to keep track of when things happen. This is one spot I can go to and write about him. Also, I can tell funny little stories of the things he does and I think that will be fun for him to look back on later. The other randomness I put in here may or may not be so fun for him to look back on, but its me.
Here is the questionare:
What makes you enjoy a particular blog (not just this one, any one that you read)?
I like to feel like I can relate to the person I’m reading about. I mostly like posts about families or decorating, tips for random things….I need to learn to cook better, so now I’m interested in some recipes (easy non time consuming ones of course).
What type of post is your favorite?
I don’t have a favorite type of post.
How important are the photographs?
Very important if they add something to the story. I don’t like an arbitrary picture of something that really has nothing else to do with the post. For example: you tell a story of your child and then post a photograph of a wall in your house. Why? (seriously, I've seen that)
Does the design of the blog attract you or even stop you from reading it?
Yes, absolutely. If the layout is all cramped up and not pleasing to the eye, or if the font is too small…..it doesn’t matter how good the content of the blog is. I’m a visual.
Do you like blogs to be colloquial/regional or fairly generic?
I like it when people are just themselves in their blog. Sometimes it seems people write in a way that isn’t them or they are trying to be something they are not….it shows. Too many buttons on the blog or other things seems to lock up my internet too....I HATE that!
An equal amount of craft and family, or does too much of talking about the kids put you off?
I’m a mom, you cannot talk about your kids too much. Well, I guess you could, but I haven’t seen that yet.
What else? What are the best words of advice you can give a blogger?
Just be yourself. What interests you? That is going to be the easiest thing for you to write about and therefore, the most interesting thing for other people to read.
Happy Blogging......
