I AM Pavlov's Dog!

So, Zander and I were going out to dinner with my parents last week to Red Robin. I signed us all up for their 'Birthday club'...so we get a free burger on our birthdays. So we were going to celebrate my Dad's birthday, which is now actually in February....but that is a long story....

Anywhoo...all day Thursday my mom was building up dinner for Zander, in the hopes he would behave. Red Robin is one of his favorite places to eat because of the balloons.

From the time she got to my house in the morning she started in saying "You be good and you'll get a balloon. Do you want a balloon?"
Of course Z was all over that ....."Boon....boon" (repeat several hundred times)

I met them at the restaurant because I came straight from work. I walked in and I didn't see balloons covering the ceiling like I do. I went to the table where my parents and Z were already seated. Of course Z was wanting a balloon. When the waiter came over I asked him about them. He left to go get one. He came back all apologetic.....they were out of balloons.

Of course you cannot explain that to a toddler. He had fries. He had a soda. He had crayons. But he wanted a 'boon'!!!

So, what is mommy to do? What. Is. Mommy. To. Do?

I had to go to the dollar store....that's what. I knew they had balloons already blown up.

This is Z in the car...so excited because we are going to get a balloon.

I took the back roads to avoid traffic....however, I didn' t know about road construction on one of the roads and had to do a lot of backtracking......how inconvenient!!!! UGGGH!!!

I finally got to Dollar Tree and Z picked out a green balloon with flowers on it that said "Happy Birthday". He was soooo happy!!!! Mission accomplished!

We got home and I pulled in the drive and he started crying......BIG TEARS!!! What happened? Was he hurt" NO............I didn't get him "FRIES!".....

Are you freaking kidding me? We just ate?

So, what does mommy do? What. Does. Mommy. Do?

Mommy goes back to where Dollar Tree is because that is where McDonalds is too!!! And I got him some of those blasted addictive-as-heroin-fries!!!

Stupid Balloon!!!! Stupid Fries!!!!

You are such a nice mama. So how was dinner? Did Zander behave during your meal?

Oh, I have done very similar things, you are not alone!! One time at Trader Joe's, they gave Ned a balloon and he clung on to that thing and was so happy. We get to the house and he lets the damn thing go and cries as it floats away. So we went back to Trader Joe's for another one!

You sister are mother of the year in my book!
I might have gone & got the balloon, but I would not have gone for the fries.
I'm a mean mom! Thus the reason I'm not up for mother of the year!!!
