Opening presents & licking beaters...

So, now that I'm able to get to my pictures (YAAAY) I can post some from Christmas Eve.
Zander got to open his presents from me on Christmas Eve morning since we would be at my parent's house on Christmas morning and in a hurry to drive 2 hours somewhere else.
I put them in the basement.....away from the tree.....that Demitra (my black cat) kept chewing on and then throwing up under. Yes, I know...lovely!
At first, Zander didn't even notice they were there. He was playing with my exercise ball (since I seem to never use it) and rolled right on by them.....then he finally saw them....

Here are some of his new toys....

After he played with his toys for awhile, he helped me make some icing for a cake. This was his first time getting to lick the beater......and he was pretty hesitant.....

I think the cake looked better than it tasted. I made a red velvet cake...and now I realize I do not like red velvet cake.
We had a great Christmas Eve morning....but I lost my Christmas spirit later.....so we'll end here on a happy note.
This is Zander before we went to bed on Christmas Eve! I just love him in his jammies...he looks so squeezable.....and he is....and I did!

Maybe next year when Z understands Christmas a little better we'll start the tradition of leaving out cookies and milk for Santa....and a carrot for the reindeer!
Christmas Day pics will be tomorrow!

Reindeer - Carrots? I would have thought they would have been more "sugar cube" beasts...

It's lovely to see Zander adopting the age old tradition - beater licker & bakery supervisor. This is one of the most important tasks the boy will ever undertake.

Also Zander is so lucky to get so many presents. I know many of my neighbours just don't have that luxury. In fact some of the kids come over to my place for breakfast, there just isn't food in the house. I'm talking Gabriel and his sisters, you'll see their photos on my blog, they are pretty much family and my kids gave them presents, so they didn't miss out entirely.

That's what Christmas is all about - sharing.

The girls and I had a blast making Christmas cookies this year for Santa, and Dad even got in on the action when he helped decorate them.

We put oats and glitter in the front yard for the reindeer. The glitter was the catch their attention as they flew and then the oats for them to eat while Santa took care of business.

The girls don't get the idea that Christmas is over. Kendall is already talking about putting up the tree again when Santa says "HO HO HO!"

Grrr--I don't know what happened to my comment--it disappeared! I said...

How cute Z is in his jammies and that he's holding the same meow-meow as Pickle! And how that means they were meant for each other!

Also--I know what you mean about red velvet cake--I never thought it was "all that."

Looking forward to your Xmas pics!!
