My mom has an ABC book by Dr. Seuss at her house. When you open the cover the ABC's are scattered all over the pages. Zander can be told once what letter someone's name starts with, and he can remember it. So you can open the book and say "Where is Dara's name?" and he'll point to the "D". "Where is Ani's name?" and he will point to the "A". He can do his name as well. So far he knows everyone's name in our family including our cats and puppy. I'm pretty impressed with my little mr. smartypants.
He knows how to get out of trouble. He started saying "hi" in his cute little high voice and waving hi. I giggle and tell him how cute he is when he does it. Well, now everytime he is about to get in trouble for something, he smiles, waves, and says "hi". Oh yeah, he knows how to melt me.
He knows how to work most of the remote controls in our house. In fact the other day, he was pushing some buttons, got it to go to the shows I've tivo'd and started his "Jack's Big Music Show" episode I taped for him. He seemed pretty happy with himself! Pretty soon he'll be setting things up to record on his own.
So, as previously mentioned, one of his favorite shows now is Jack's Big Music Show. I tape these whenever they are on because when these are playing it keeps his attention. I can put these on when I need to get things done. It finally gives me time to do bills or laundry, etc when he is still awake. That way I can go to bed when he does rather than staying up later to try and get things done. He's been sleeping with me for the past week because.....yep, I got sick again. So, I'm trying to get more sleep and its just easier to put him in bed with me. I leave for Mexico next week and I want to be well for that. I'll be away from Zander for 4 days. My mom has had him that long before when I've been sick, but I was still closer to him than I will be when I'm in Mexico. I can't just pop over to give him hugs and kisses. It'll be a nice little break for us though.
He can say "more" now. I've been using signing with him for this and he never really would do the sign for me. He gave it a weak attempt one day and then finally just said "more". Now he will say "more" and just point to his hand. Close enough, as long as we both know what he means. He also says kitty, puppy, bird, cookie, pot (as in his pots and pans), hot dog (sounds more like ta-ta), potty and mine; along with some of the other things he's been saying for awhile, like hi, bye, tree, cracker, no and ba (which either means bottle or blanket depending on what he wants at the time). I know he says other words but of course I can't think of any right now. He did say "thank you" one day when I handed him something. Unlike a lot of what he says it sounded pretty clear, well, it sounded like "kay - ku", but hey, that's pretty good for someone his age. I'm starting to teach him to sign that too. Cindy, at work, knows sign language and she is supposed to start teaching me a word a day....when either of us can remember.
I brought his potty chair up a few weeks ago. He mostly like to use it to stand on it to reach things he shouldn't. But now he has started to sit on it when I use the bathroom (we all knows mom's don't get any privacy anymore). He'll sit on it and say "potty". I'm actually in no hurry to potty train him though. It'll be more of inconvenience I think when we're out places to make sure he doesn't have an accident. Plus, I'm in no hurry for baby to grow up to fast!!!
He loves to brush his teeth too. He has to brush his teeth everytime I brush mine. His future girlfriends will appreciate his good hygiene and his nice healthy teeth I'm sure.
Ok, well, this is enough for now. He's asleep and I want to be to. Next blog will be after his checkup so I will post his latest stats.
