Not such a good week in the boo boo department. Zander was at Grandma's house on Monday and was reaching up on a counter for a cookie. In the process, he knocked over one of my Dad's thermos' and it landed on his toe....causing the nail to turn black. He was able to walk around and it finally bled, so I'm sure that relieved the pressure for him. It looks gross though and everytime he sees it, he cries. So, we've been keeping a sock on his foot - yep, just the one.
I wrote in a previous post that I did some volunteer work last Friday....and that I might have over done it with a maddock. Well, apparently I did. My hand has been sore all week, just kind of tender like its bruised. But last night it started feeling worse....and swelling. It still hurts a lot today....especially when I use my thumb. Apparently, I use my thumb A LOT...and didn't really know it. I'm trying to give it a rest and just use my left hand. That's not working out too well, as everything seems to take 2 hands....and my left hand is SOOO uncoordinated.
Then there is little Anakin Jayden. He has some back problems that seem to come and go. Being chubby doesn't help either. It doesn't take much to set off the muscle spasms in his back...just jumping and landing the wrong way or going up/down stairs.....or Zander! Anyway, I don't think this time was Z's fault. Ani's been climbing up on the couch and getting in the picture window and killing flies. I think the flies are trying to get out....that is the only reason I can think of that he keeps trapping them there. Anyway, I have to carry him up and down the steps now to go outside.....keep his aspirin flowing and the little microwave heating pad warm.....poor baby. He didn't move all evening....
Today, Zander found this with my mail that I still have yet to go through.
He thought it was a book.....so he made Grandma read it to him 5 TIMES!!!
Well, it isn't a story book.....it's a coupon book from Target! My mom said they had to keep going through the book and point out everyone's nose, their eyes, their mouths....glasses, hats...etc. Better her than me on that one!
It stormed here last evening and the satellite went out. So we just watched a bunch of Blue's Clues episodes we had tivo'd. I had a craving for brownies so I baked some. That wasn't smart considering I either had to stir them with my bum hand or my retarded one that can't do anything right. After they baked and cooled I was cutting into them when I saw a.....HAIR!!!! GROSS!!!! I don't know if it was mine, Z's, the dog's, the cats', the milkman's or the mailman's............ Hahahaha, just kidding! We don't have a milkman! Anyway, that saved me from eating all those calories. (sigh)
Today I had to go the DMV to renew my plates. In Missouri, it used to be that all vanity plates were renewed in July. So, I know that every July I have to renew my plates. I've been doing this now for what....a hundred years it seems. So, why can't I get it through my head to get all of my paperwork together in like June?
No, it was July 28th when I finally got my inspection. I ran around the house that night tearing it apart looking for my 2006 Personal Property tax receipt (you need 2 years worth to get a 2 year renewal). Uggh! I finally found a copy of it that I had faxed to my tax person.
So, I hopped on over to the DMV yesterday for my lunch hour. There was no one there...GREAT! Then I see a sign that says they only accept cash or check. Well, I don't have $85 on me and I know right where my checkbook is....on my kitchen table! Crap!
So, I walk back out and drive to an ATM. I went to Bank of America across the street and discover they do not have a drive thru ATM. Well, that won't do because I'm LAZY.
So I go back across the street to a strip mall that has one in their parking lot. I wait patiently as the Brinks Security guys finish what they are doing. Then I get the "thumbs down" from one of them....it's broken.
So, I then drive down the road and after not finding anymore banks, I pull into a Walgreens. They all have ATM's inside. So, I get my lazy butt out of the car and walk inside, only to see "Out Of Service".
What's that I hear? God? He's laughing at me?
So, I get back in my car and drive til I see yet another bank ....finally. This one has a drive thru ATM and wants to charge me a $3 convenience fee. Really? Whatever, I've already paid more than that driving around. Yes, I'll pay it!
I get my money and drive back to the DMV....where there is now a line! Its finally my turn and all of that goes smoothly. I had never changed my address on my actual driver's license when I bought my house....almost 5 years ago. So the lady tells me that if I go into the other line, the one over there, that they can just create a sticker to put on my license with the new address. I told her I hadn't gotten it changed recently because I don't want to mess up my voter's registration. I don't know when the cutoff date is (and neither did she) and I want to stay eligible to vote.
So, I go over into the other line and when its my turn I explain what I want. Well, she can't duplicate my driver's license because it expires in 6 months so the system won't allow a duplicate. She wanted to renew it.
No, thank you!
I don't think she understands how serious I am about being able to vote. She should! Every American should! And she registers people to vote!!! I don't get that!!!
My whole theory is: "You don't vote - You don't bitch complain!"
Well, I can't go 4 years without a complaint....so I vote!
(ETA): Anakin had me worried this morning as he seemed to be in a lot of pain and could hardly walk. I called the vet, got some muscle relaxers, ran home at lunch and gave him one. I hope they kick in soon.
I'm not above asking for prayers for my dogson....so please keep Ani in your prayers!

Why is nothing ever easy?
And I agree-don't complain if you don't vote.
Z looks precious with his one sock on. Bless his sweet little toe!
I closed my thumb in a door last week (ouch!), so I feel Z's pain! Poor thing, hope his toe feels better.
The DMV is so painful isn't it?
Yes...I vote, too! ...and I complain, too! :) and I pray, oh Lord I pray!
Poor little Z. I hope his toe gets to feeling better soon. As well as I hope Ani gets back to his old self before long.
And your Mother is such a good sport for reading the coupon book to Z 5 times. Her patience is something to be had by many including myself. lol
Z is starting a new trend - like Michael Jackson with one glove except cooler. And not creepy!
It sounds like you are having some fun issues - glad you still have your sense of humor through all this! I so wish I could vote but I am only a permanent resident, not a legal citizen, but one day maybe....!
I am obviously very stupid, because I am not sure I understand this story. Why wouldn't you be able to vote because you renewed your license?
I totally agree with you on the voting thing!!!!
Z is so cute sitting in that chair with the sock on!!
Hey Christie,
There is a cutoff for registering to vote...so that the state can verify your eligibility. I don't know when that cutoff is. But if I changed my address on my license, that puts me in a new district. I would be uneligible to vote in my previous district (because the address on my new license would not match my old one in that district) and if I didn't meet the new cutoff, then I wouldn't be able to vote in the new district either. So, I left it as is for now.
Don't know if I said that right...its not soley because I was renewing my driver's license, its because of the change of address I need to make on the new driver's license.
if I come over will u put a heating pad on my hiney? one sock and some tears from the lack of brownies... ya, thats one sad story....
This isn't fair! Didn't you have the week from hell last week? Your getting a double dose, I'm sorry.
I like the new look for Zander too! Hope it heals fast.
I too have a senior dog and I give him some kind of pill the vet gave me. He's back up like he was puppy again. He's a Golden and he loves water. It messes his back up everytime. Have a good day missy.
Poor Anakin is not a senior yet...he's only 4! He's just fat and wasn't blessed with a sturdy back I guess.
Oh my, is that a fat shit-zu I see?
We have three, a 30 pounder, a 28 pounder and a normal 11 pounder.
Pooter, my 30 pounder is only four years old as well, but trust me, it only takes one walk through pet smart to know your dealing with some sort of freak of nature in the dog world. People look at us with a crooked glance as they make some off handed comment about his weight issues. Or, maybe they are making reference towards my weight issues, oh well.
I hope he feels better and I'm glad you vote.
I think........ ; )
At first I thought Anakin was a person! Then when I saw the dog I busted out laughing...and don't get me started on DMV..."Oh you don't have your report card from first grade with you? Go get it. Next!"
Hair in brownie? That would cure me of the craving and cause me to throw the whole batch out. Whenever I find a hair in food, I never go to that restaurant AGAIN. Ever. The image makes me gag. And yes, it has happened at home...I just like to forget out it...you know, like childbirth ;)
I just had a great idea... and you're totally gonna be the receipient of it... just have to be patient!
The DMV is the worst! Hope your little man's toe gets better. The one sock is cracking me up. And hope little pup feels better soon too!
I'm sorry for all the injuries in your household--poor little Z-Man! That's a really cute pic of him. The same thing happened to Gooser's toe once--we called it his "ugly toe." One night Don and I were out and the kids were w/ a sitter and the nail fell off--the sitter put it in a Ziploc bag. Ewwww!
I hope your dog is feelingbetter soon!
Okay, the toe jam comment on Jennifer's blog made me curious...now I'm exhausted as I am sure you are!!
Poor little man & poor little pooch!
I don't know if god was laughing, but I sure was.
But only because I can totally relate!
I HATE the DMV & not to be rude but why are you the only normal person that is ever in there?
Is there a secret online site or something that normal regular people know about so they never have to go in there?
Why haven't we been told?
Everyone in there seems to be on some kind of meds or needs them!
