Friday I took a "volunteer" day off from work. We are allowed 1 work day a year in which to go volunteer somewhere. So, I went to one of the Angel Arm's locations here in St. Louis. It is a residential home for foster children. We did some landscaping, put gutter guards on, fixed a rock wall and trimmed some limbs on a tree. (there was a group of us...I obviously did not do all of those things). It rained most of the morning...and although I thought that would suck...it felt much better to the 90 degree plus temps we would have had otherwise. I think I went a little bit crazy with my maddock, though, as I was VERY sore this weekend. Still, it was a nice change of pace from sitting at a desk all day....although I have to admit..I went through a wee tiny bit of 'internet withdrawal'.
I did not get a chance to watch a movie last week with my pity party goin' on.....however, I still haven't talked about my movie from 2 weeks ago. It was a old favorite that I generally watch on tv when its aired. But, my sweet lil momma got it for me on DVD a few weeks ago.....so now I can watch it whenever..... I'm talking 'bout The Goonies!!! Yep, I'm a Goonie Fan.... What a fun movie.....some stars have even gone on to be beloved Hobbits!!! Samwise Gamgee???? Remember him? (although, I'm glad his character was off'd in 24.....how dare he go against Jack!!!)
Anyway, you gotta love the one liners in this movie:
Irene Walsh: Brandon, don't you come home without your
brother, or I'll commit Hare Krishna!
Brandon Walsh: That's "Harry Carry", ma.
Irene Walsh: That is exactly what I said! and
Data: I'm setting booty traps.
Stef: You mean booby traps?
Data: That's what I said! Booby traps!
I'm very excited! I am going to be bowling on our team league this year. I started out a few of years ago bowling and had a great time. I didn't join the last couple of years because 1st: I was pregnant (and there would have been NO WAY my bowling shoes would have even fit me) and then 2nd: I was busy with little Z. I don't want my mom and dad to have to watch him all the time, so I'm just going to be bowling once every 4-6 weeks. But, at least I get to bring Yoda back out. What is a 'Yoda' you ask? Well, its my super cool bowling ball.....

Yeah, I don't bowl well...so I have to distract people with a cool ball.
May the Force be with the Pinja's!!!!
Zander spent the night at his Grandma and Grandpa's house last night. I do enjoy time without him every once in awhile to do things around the house I can't do when he's there - like catch up on my tivo clean. The house is so quiet though.....I really miss him when he's not here.
I'm in the middle of reading Janet Evanovich's "Full House" right now. I like her books because they are quick reads and they literally make me laugh out loud. It's a total chic book...I'm not gonna lie....I'm not ashamed to admit it. I basically enjoy books and movies that entertain.....life is too serious anyway, I don't want my entertainment to keep me stressed. So, I try to stay away from books that are "one man's theory on the state of some important political issue of the day". I want to laugh.
Bushism O' the Week:
I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 lb perch in my lake.
--George W. Bush
05/07/2006: When asked about his 'best moment since he took office in 2001' in German newspaper, Bild am Sonntag
Edited to add: I just saw this on Mama's Losin It. A fellow blogger, Gina with Lattes and Lipstick, is trying to raise money in order to pay for an alternative form of treatment for cancer for her husband, George. She and her friends and family put together a cookbook and they are selling it for $1. They need $20,000 and have already raised $15,000. If you would like to help them out, please click here.

First of all, your Bushism just confirms everything that the current president is: stupid!
I also know the feeling of not being able to clean when having a little one under your feet. I only deep clean every other weekend when Ned goes to his dad's, everything else is just surface clean in the meantime. Besides them under your feet, when it is summer the last thing you want to do with them is stay in the house and clean. You have to be out all the time doing activities with them and then you are too pooped to clean the house!
You are a very good person to take a volunteer day and help others out - that is a really good idea and I have never heard of it before. Well done you!
My children never leave the house, and that is the reason I never clean. Okay, that is a lie. I never clean the house because I am lazy. However, I do regularly watch my Tivo programs. Once again, because I am lazy.
Jason and Henry were gone camping this past weekend and I had to work! At least I got to sleep during the day in peace (since I work nights).
sitter is on vaca this week, so Miss T and I are hangin...no sleep for the wicked...and her momma
I love Goonies!!!!
Oh Bush.... why can't he keep his mouth shut??
I can remember going to see The Goonies in the theater! Its a great movie!
I love Janet Evanovich! I recently finished her latest, Fearless Fourteen. I've read Full House... its the only book of hers I've read that is not in the Stephanie Plum series. Her books crack me up! The first time I've laughed out loud while reading...
Shannon...I've read several of her non-Plum books and they are all funny. You should read Manhunt....that one was really funny! I want to read the Plum books...but I want to read them in order and haven't found the first one yet....I'm cheap so I'll only buy them used! :)
Oh the Goonies. Love that movie. The boys and I watch it all the time.
Baby Roof. Love it.
And the bowling ball rocks. Going to check out this cookbook.
I have never seen The Goonies! Geuss I'd better rent the dvd ASAP! I LOLed at the Bush quote!! Where did you find a YOda bowling ball!?!
