Still Raining and Pouring: Part II

Ok, so if you missed part I, read here first.

I’m driving in the car when I can smell fear. That’s right. My cats are nervous travelers….and they had not only vomited in their crate….but they had pooped in it as well. So I had (2) 20+ lb, long haired cats stuck in a crate with their own vomit and poop….gee…do you think any got on their fur? Why, yes, thank you for asking. It sure did.

So, when I got to my mom’s, I had to unload everyone and everything and immediately bathe the cats….well, just Demitra. I think Gideon dealt it…but Demitra paid the price. Of course Demitra did…he is the least cooperative of the two.

Oh, he was not happy. I was STILL cranky by the way (not sure if I mentioned that enough). He cried and moaned and caught one of my toes with one of his back claws. OMG, cat claws are like knives! So, with just a few tears shed(mine), somehow, we all survived the bath and I still had 9 ½ toes.

Z and I hadn’t eaten since earlier in the day so, once again breaking my rules, I went to McDonalds to get us something quick to eat. As soon as my Dad got home, he and I headed to my house to see what we could do.

It was already getting late and we were running out of light fast. The good news though was that since the sun was going down, it cooled down a little bit. It was probably in the 90’s then…..wooo hooo! We kind of determined, preliminarily, that my main breaker went bad. Of course Home Depot was closed at this point, so I was just going to have to spend the night with them.
I had just gotten a bunch of groceries (figures – you know, because I was resigned to start taking my lunch to work) and I didn’t want them to go bad. So I loaded up some bags of food from my deep freezer and from my fridge and took them with me to my mom’s.

I went to work early on Monday so that I could leave early and meet my Dad at my house the next afternoon. I kept praying that while he was messing with the electricity that no accidents would happen….I’m overly dramatic that way and I’m sure he wished I would just shut up about it: “Dad, is that safe? Should you do that? Are you sure?” I do have to say that I did learn some things about electricity and how it works coming from the utility company’s meter to my electric box.

After he talked to a guy at Home Depot, we were informed of a safety switch on the breaker, which is why I couldn’t get it to go back on. So, if we had known about that previously, I would have had electricity a lot sooner and we could have saved ourselves a lot of aggravation. So, we did the magic flip with the breaker and VOILA…..electricity!

At least I didn’t have to buy a new breaker, which was $40 (but would have TOTALLY been worth it if I had needed it). After waiting an hour though, my poor AC could not cool down the house….it was truly in need of some repair. It was still 80 degrees in my house. My Dad can fix many things for me…..and he has…but alas, the AC is not one of those things. It might need antifreeze, it might need a fuse, it might need to be put out to the old AC pasture….or it might just need an exorcist! Not sure at this point!

So, again we had to leave my house for their house and I would have to call a repairman the next day.

As I start to walk to my car, my Dad turns to me and says “Your day just got worse, when it rains, it pours, kid.”

And he points to the flat tire on my Jeep!..........

I don't know what's worse: no a/c or dealing with cat vomit and poo. I would have to go with the latter I think!

Hoping your week gets so much better and you have a/c that freezes your butt off soon!

And it pours when it rains, too! We've had 100 degree heat, the AC went out AND the attic fan quit. What could be worse? We have to pay Big Bucks for a new AC unit--ours is so old it can't be repaired! Hey, thanks for stopping by yesterday and leaving the neat comment. We'll have more rehearsal dinner news soon, so drop by again soon!

NO No NO! At least the engine didn't go or a windshield wasn't shattered. I hope everything is all fixed and you are back home soon. Oh, I know what you mean about carrying a sweaty baby when you are sweaty and crabby...not a good combo...oh no....

Bless your heart! Trust me, I feel where you are coming from. I told the pediatrician today that I need a prescription for Valium or something. This last two weeks has been rough!!

She's doing fine now. Thanks for checking in on her. I had to take my son to the doctor today for a swollen jaw and he ended up fainting in the examining room with the doctor in there. We spent three hours trying to figure out what is going on with him. And we know little more than when we began. Between my children and the dog, I need something strong!!

Oh no--that's just too much for one day! One week even! I can't even imagine the horror of bathing cats!

That reminds me of this bizarre story--Many years ago, my friend and I decided to volunteer at a humane society type place and we went for the informational meeting.

We went around the room saying what animals and tasks we were interested in helping with.

This guy who didn't speak English very well was like "Bathe cats." And the meeting lady said "We don't really bathe cats--they don't don't like water. But we bathe dogs!"

And the guy got up and left!

Sorry for my nonsensical ramble in your comments!!
