The Lowdown

So, I've decided to change my blog a bit. Nothing drastic.....sorry, for those of you who thought for just a tiny second that the content might get better! I've just decided to just go with the flow and not have a designated day for a certain type of post. Like, Monday's used to be my "Tids N Bits"....but now it will just be random. Kind of like my babbling right now.

The exception to the above rule is Phriday Photo Phinish Phiesta with Candid Carrie. I love doing that! As long as she is hosting, I will be participating! And I post pics all the time anyway...

I think I have an addiction to redoing blogs again. I can't seem to stop. Yesterday I redid my recipe blog (see spotted picture to the left)....and I haven't even updated that blog since October. But I plan on doing that today....so check it out! Isn't it adorable?
I love cows!
I love black and white!
I love it!

I also started a new private blog that I made over yesterday too. I'm going to call it Thicker Than Water...because blood is thicker than water and that blog is going to be all about my family tree. My memory kind of comes and goes it seems. Well, on the way to my family reunion on Christmas Day.....as I was driving in silence for 2 hours....because my mom was in la la land and my Dad and Zander were doing this:

I had plenty of time to think. And memories of previous reunions, conversations I'd had, certain memories just became so clear. I want to write these things down for Zander before I forget.

I ask a million questions to my parents about certain family members and their memories only go back so far. Pictures and dates get more rare as people get older. I don't want to lose all of these. And in this techno age, I really don't have much of an excuse not to.

I wouldn't make the blog private except that it probably wouldn't interest anyone anyway. It would only interest the serial killers out there as it would give them all the info they needed to find me and my family. So, thanks Serial Killers, for ruining this for everyone!

Another project I'm taking on this year (see my list for 2009 below on the left sidebar) is to scan all of our family pictures. This means ALL of the pictures my mother has in boxes....because obviously this was waaay before digital. We're talking some of those orangy 70's photos. I have 6 boxes in my basement that I have sorted into baggies from her house. I don't even know what some of them were from....I'm hoping my mom can fill in dates and names once I get them scanned. One baggy a week is my goal right now.....more if I can.

My mom has more boxes at her house....and then my sister had taken some and it will take me months of reminding her to get those back so I can scan them. Then, my Aunt has a bunch of photo albums from my Grandma's house after she passed away.

Do you know what my Grandma did? Now, she was a sensible woman.....at least I always thought she was. But in looking through her photo albums after she passed away.....well, I have to say she had a weird habit. If she had a photo of someone....and they died.....she wrote the word "deceased" right across their face! Not at the bottom of the photo. Not on the back.
Right. Across. Their. Face!

So, now that they are gone we can't look at them anymore?
Geez, Grandma....what were you thinking????

Ok, that's enough babbling now. Go enjoy your day!

Cool plans! Grandma was a little strange with that...but I bet she learned it from her family, maybe she saw her Mom her Aunts do it. It sounds very old world to me...I find it interesting! I am doing research on my family this year and soting photos...I have been horrible about the way I keep them!

Right across their face!
Your kidding me!
That is SO funny.
I too have B O X E S of pictures from my Grammmy and Grampy and from my Dad and his side of the family and have NO idea who anyone is : (
Very sad.
I guess I could make up names, dates and places so as not to frustrate future generations... hey, that might be kinda fun!

How do we label digital pix for our kids?

Everything you have planned is fantastic! I love the idea of the family tree blog! Very cool!
(I have a recipe blog too that I don't update very often either. LOL)

How odd about your grandmother doing that. I wonder if you can somehow photo shop that out. (I know I removed a bubble from someone's face once...)

I like it!
I'm trying to simplify things for myself also. I was putting so much pressure on myself to "entertain" that I lost my want to blog. I've changed that and I am also going to be doing the randomness thing...

Your photo project seems daunting, but what a reward for your ENTIRE family when it's complete!! Make sure they all thank you! :)

Your Grandma's actions just crack.me.up!!!!

Ooo I like the idea of scanning one baggy a week... I should talk my sisters into it to & getting them all on line JUST IN CASE... as I am the official computer killer, I am going to start putting EVERYTHING onto the net... Happy New Years!

I so agree with not putting your life-bloggy or otherwise-in a box. Going with the flow is a much more relaxing way to be...except, of course, for Candid Carrie! I was reflecting the other day on how blogging has opened up a whole new world for me. You sound like you've got a lot going on, and you're going to make such a tremendous difference in 2009! Looking forward to any photos or video you'd like to send our way...and THANKS for being such a Great Bloggy Friend!

Important - Hottest thing being hugely hyped about on the internet in 2009!!

Hi

Please go sign up for this right now! -> http://adastra.webprosperity.com/ it's only free to sign up for one more day before it's official launching!

Also please spread the word - - so it can grow at the explosive rate all the internet site statistics are listing - and then everyone benefits hugely!!!

- and since it's by Tony Robbins and his biz partner David D'Arcangelo who are those hugely successful millionaires that advise even presidents - it's bound to be a success and is not a scam at all. I've researched it thoroughly.....

Hope you see this on time!
