Wintery Mix

Well, I really enjoyed my 3 day weekend, but it went by sooo fast! Why do weekends fly by but weekdays drag on? It hardly seems fair. Zander and I hung out all day on Friday. We went up to Reuters for a little while. I think he was a little overwhelmed at first and he cried. But of course a "security bottle" quieted him down. Then he warmed up to everyone and there was no stopping him. I think he had a good time, and hopefully he didn't disrupt too many people. He was sooo tired when we left that he fell asleep in the car and ended up taking a 3 1/2 hour nap. Saturday we hung out as well. Zander likes to be read to and will have you read him the same book over and over again. One of his new favorites is "The Foot Book" by Dr. Seuss. Saturday evening we went with Grandma and Grandpa to take our income tax papers to Felicia. YAAAYYY.....I can't wait to get a refund.....gee.....I hope I'm getting a refund!!! Sunday was a busy day.....I worked in the nursery in the morning. Afterwards the family went out to eat at Captain D's (hey, we were short on time) and celebrated Dad's new birthday (see previous blogs to see what that means). Anyway, I gave him a blanket that I made for him.

Later in the afternoon was Nik's baby shower. It was a surprise......and she was surprised!!! One of the ladies that my sister and Nik work with gave the party. It was supposed to be from 2-4.....and I swear.....time stopped!!! From 2 to 3:20 all we had done was sit around and eat snacks. They had not opened presents, played games or cut the cake yet. I've never seen my mom more ansy than me to leave somewhere. Anyway, things finally started moving and I'll just skip to the gifts part. Nik got a lot of diapers, bibs, clothes and things like that. My mom got her a gift card to Babies R Us. I gave her a basket of things and some diapers. Oh look, I have a picture of it too:

Luckily my Dad kept Zander during the shower since it was his nap time. He definitely wouldn't have lasted that long. Dara didn't either. She had a meltdown shortly after they got there and Kim had to take her home to Grandpa John so she could take a nap. I was really happy to get home last night with Zander so we could wind down and chill out a little bit before the work week started over again.
St. Louis is having some very weird weather again. Saturday the high was almost 70 degrees. Sunday the high was about 20 degrees. Today, per Weatherbug, it only got up to about 16 degrees and it misted sleet all day. It took me over an hour to drive home from work.....and I only live 15 minutes away. Not only were the roads slick and traffic bad, but it seemed that all of the traffic lights were off as well. It all made for a giant cluster!!!
