The Mystery of the Heavy Breather

I called my mom's house yesterday to check on her and Z. The phone picks up but no one says "hello". All I hear is some heaving breathing and the tv on in the background. So, I figured Z or Dara picked up the phone and I was just waiting for my mom to realize it and take it away from them. But she didn't.

So, I hung up and called her cell phone. She picks up right away:

Mom: Hello.
Me: Hi. Did you hear your house phone ring?
Mom: No, Dad's mowing...so I'm just sitting out on the back porch.
Me: Well, I just called and I think one of the kids picked
up the phone. You'd better check.
Mom: No, they are both out here with me. Ella is in the house sleeping.
Me: Do you think she might have picked it up? (Um, Ella is 4 months old)
Mom: No, she's sleeping pretty good.
Me: Well, I heard heavy breathing...you might want to check that out later.
Mom: Hmmm...wonder who that was?

Ok....so skip to this morning. I call my mom to check on her and Z again. She told me she called her housephone last night and the answering machine picked up.
Zander had changed her outgoing message.
Mystery solved!

He is CONSTANTLY playing with our answering machines.

Mine is in my bedroom at home and he is constantly pushing the on/off button. He tries to be sneaky when playing with it. But I can be in another room and I hear
"The machine is on."
"The machine is off."
"The machine is on."
etc....

Maybe he is going to work for the phone company or in electronics when he grows up.

I love the blog design. Those dots are adorable. That was a great story! I'm glad the 4 month old isn't playing telephone operator quite yet:)

The beginning of this post sounded like the beginning of a horror story. Someone is in the house! With the sleeping baby! AHHHHHHHH!

Thank goodness it was just a nosy toddler!

So cute! I can't believe he managed to push the right buttons to record. I don't even think I know how to do that! :)

Oh yeah....Z has tivo'd things before or pulled up his cartoons that I've tivo'd for him. He gets pretty lucky with the buttons.
