For about a week now, Zander has been talking up a storm! It isn't just babble anymore either or repeating what someone else says. He is talking! I can't always understand him, but its getting better. He has a little accent too, like he's from the country....not sure where he got that! It's cute though...
Something that isn't so cute....his meltdowns......which are getting a bit more frequent. Do you ever have those days where you want a 'do-over' or that you want to just plain hurry up and end so you could go to bed and hope that tomorrow will be better? Saturday was one of those days for me. (sigh) Z was in rare form. Those (insert bad word here) molars are still not in! I know they are bothering him because he keeps scratching at his ears til they bleed. Today his ear was black, literally the color black, because he had stuck a black crayon in it trying to get relief. If I could get my hands on the Tooth Fairy I'd beat the crap out of her....I know this is not her fault directly....but she's got connections....
So, since I was so stressed out....what did I do? Well, I baked cookies of course! I followed a recipe I found on
Jenn's Pen for some Betty Crocker Sugar Cookies. They are AWESOME!!! I'm used to baking chocolate chip cookies, that is about all I ever bake. So, during this little baking session....I discovered I don't have a rolling pin and I don't have cookie cutters. No problem.....I flattened the dough out with my hands.....and I used the rim to a bottle, like so:

I left the frosting off of most of them, because I actually prefer them plain

I will be taking these to work on Monday to get rid of them....so for my friends from work reading this....don't give me any crap about diets.....you're eating some cookies!!!
I got Z a little blow up pool....he was less than impressed:
So, he thought about what to do next....

Oh, yeah, the sandbox......

But, I thought this seemed like more fun:

We met up with Kim, Nikki, Ella, Dara and our friend, Ligouri, for a day at the pool on Sunday. This is the first time I've had Z at a real pool. He ran through the water just laughing......then he fell and went under. I scooped him up.....but that was all it took.....he was skittish after that. He played in one area of the pool where the water only came up to about his knees. If it got any deeper I had to carry him....and if it got up past my waist, he tried to climb up over my head.
We had a really good day though. No meltdowns.
He had a blast playing at the pool.

(I took this photo with my crappy cell phone)
I am not tan now by any means....but perhaps I'm also not giving off a ghostly glow anymore.
I wish I go here every day. Running through the water holding a 30+ lb child is great exercise. In just a couple of weeks of doing this, do you know how great my legs would look? I would be one hot mama!!!
But, alas, I have to go back to my fattening desk job tomorrow.....with those cookies!
Edited to add: I am SOOOO sore today. My neck is killing me....it has to be from that little monkey of mine climbing all over me yesterday! Its gonna be a long day sitting uncomfortably at my desk.

First of all, he is way too darn adorable. Secondly, those meltdowns...a.w.f.u.l. My son has never been too bad, but my daughter is a major fit thrower. Sigh. It makes for a long day, that's for sure.
Your cookies look great! Somehow mine never look quiet that good. Maybe I have too much help in the kitchen! :)
If I could quit eating cookies, I might have great legs. The fits and meltdowns are driving.me.crazy. There are so many that they don't leave any time for mine!!
How cute you guys are. My kids would kill for that pool. JW's can't go swimming for 2 more weeks...ugh.
Hey I have something for you at my house, come on over and get it. Have a great day!
Me again, I am terrible at this blogging! I was making the post and leaving comments at the same time...well I hadn't published yet and yes you can have an alpaca! Sorry now you can go. Have a great Day again!
It looks like he had a wonderful time. I can't wait until August 2nd when he a Jaxen can swim together. Hopefully, it will be a meltdown free day for both of them!!
I really wish I worked with you. Mmmm...cookies.
Meltdown in cookies - GOOD... meltdown in children - BAD...
