So, I had a dream the other night about a bridge.
I was in my mom's car with her and my Aunt Mary. I have no idea where we were going, but we had to cross a bridge to get there. I felt really anxious about this bridge and I had no idea (subconsciously) why.....until we got closer to it. Then, I saw it. It was from another dream I had over at least a decade ago.
In that particular dream, my cousin, Rob, and I had to cross a bridge. It was a huge wooden plank bridge. But the wood planks were all rotted and falling to pieces. It was really weird because there was still heavy traffic going across this bridge. I was scared to death to cross it.
It was like I couldn't drive over it fast enough, the planks were breaking off behind me and falling into the river. I could see the river through it as there were huge gaping holes in the bridge.
That is all I can remember of my first dream.....I have no idea how it ended. But I thought it was pretty weird that this particular bridge should show up again...so many years later in another dream.
This time I saw the bridge, however, it had totally broken down and fallen over sideways in the river. In this new dream, we weren't crossing that bridge anyway, a new bridge had been built right next to it.
This bridge was monstrous in size. It too was a wooden plank bridge.....and again I got so scared. I thought why in the @$^%$ would they make this bridge out of wooden planks with all of our heavy cars going across? It didn't look like a normal bridge either. It looked more like a roller coaster because you had to go up a huge steep hill...and then down it on the other side. But when you got to the top of the hill you had to stop and pay a toll.
Again, you could see the river through the cracks in the planks. I was screaming at my mom to not go across this bridge - I told her we would find another way. She kept telling me to relax, it would be okay. They wouldn't let us cross it if it wasn't safe. When we got to the top of the steep hill, the guy in the toll booth was taking his sweet time. I was screaming at him to hurry up, telling him we had to hurry up and get off this bridge. The hill was so steep I felt like our car could just fall off of it backwards.
Then, (in real life) Zander kicked me in the head and woke me up. I would have been mad at him but I seriously don't think I want to know how that was going to end.
Isn't it weird that my subconscious picked up on a dream that I had so many years ago???
Don't even get me started on those dreams where all of my teeth get loose. I generally wake myself up before all of my teeth start falling out.
Seriously, why I can't I be like Bella and just dream about an Edward???? Is that so freakin' hard????
(That was a Twilight reference for all you non-Twilighters)

Ew ick... I don't think I would have liked that dream at all... and yes, very weird that your brain would remember a dream.
My brain won't remember why I went to the kitchen.
Hot tub Lizzy ...you are too funny!
I have weird dreams too! Lot's of bridge dreams, teeth falling out, people chasing me and my legs won't move! My husband doesn't have dreams at all...I have enough for both of us!
only edward if it were Orlando.. maybe you should dream about him!!
options:
(1)In more practical terms dreams of bridges should be seen as a moment of choice
(2) The bridge is a means of crossing a river, and even crossing from one country to another - foreign, new, strange - country. It may therefore symbolize a critical juncture in your life: for example, about whether you are going to be able to go through with a change from living on your own to living with a partner (or the reverse); from one job to another; from one set of values to another.
Weird dreams are horrible and sometimes scary. I had a dream about my front tooth falling out one time too, and apparently that is when you are stressed about money (which is all the time for me!). My anti depressants give me the strangest dreams and not good ones.
It is funny how your subconscious works. I always dream about being somewhere and music starts playing...like in an elevator or at a wedding. But really the music is my alarm clock going off. It is so funny how my subconcious knows the exact time my alarm is going to go off, and it tries to trick me into staying asleep longer.
Just in case you are thinking...why doesn't she use the annoying alarm sound instead of music. Because it scares the holy crap out of me. I wake up in a panic thinking the house is on fire or there is a tornado coming. Who wants to start off their morning like that?!?!?!
Oh...one more thing...I am going to steal your weight loss ticker idea. 'Cause I want to be just like Karla!!
That dream represents the persistence of elemental fears as you age. First you were scared of your teeth falling out, and now it's a bridge falling apart. Get it? Teeth - bridge? ahh ha ha ha ha!
It's so sweet that Z would kick his mommy in the back of the head to rescue her from a bad dream. :)
I have a recurring dream. I'm going to the final exam in a college Spanish class, but I've never been to the class--not once--the entire semester. This never happened in real life to me. Where does it come from?
That dream was pretty freaky. And the fact that you dreamed about the bridge twice is really creepy.
And your tooth dream reminded me of a dream I had a few years ago. I dreamed that all of my teeth were spongy and soft. It was really disturbing.
There's all kinds of symbolism in that dream--but i haven't had enough coffee yet to figure it out! I HATE the teeth faling out dream! Hate it!!
I can still vividly remember a dream I had as a kid about the sandman except he came down like Mary Poppins did and I could see him out my bedroom window...he was an evil sandman and you didn't want him to put you to sleep LOL
Sounds like you need to look at one of those dream-meaning books. It would be interesting to see what they meant.
I used to have the teeth dream too...someone told me it's when you grind you teeth in your dream...but I don't think I do that. Who knows.
Weird that you'd have the same bridge in your dream years later...
I have a reoccurring dream that I've had since I was a preteen. And I can still remember the scariest dream to me, too, that I had about the same time (although when I think about it, it's not scary). Isn't it strange how things can seem scary in dreamland but not out of them?
Oh that sounds like an awful dream!! It sounds like it must mean something. Are you about to make a big decision? Or afraid of having to make a decision?
I have a reoccurring dream about tornadoes and having to save everyone I'm around. I should look up what that means.
Wow. That was really vivid. I dreamt the other night that I was running away from a real tidal wave. I think it's because I feel so overwelmed with alot of things going on right now. Dreams are really strange aren't they?
BTW, Missouri is our state of destination this Thursday on Blog Around the World. So get your best post out as I hope to send even more traffic your way!
Sorry I've been gone. I've missed you. School is taking up way more time than I imagined.
Anyway, that's weird. I used to have nights where I would dream the same thing over and over again. I would wake up during the night and when I went back to sleep, I would dream the exact same thing and wake up at the exact same moment. It's like living in Groundhog Day.
I had the teeth falling out dream when I wore braces. My orthodontist said that was very common.
Are you feeling nervous about something? Maybe the dang twilight books. My mind did some weird stuff over the last couple of days...how did you like the ending of it all? It was good, but not what I was expecting. Do you know anything about the alien book Stephanie Meyers wrote? Just curious? Like I can read anymore. I will be playing catch up for a month because I have not done anything but read for a week.
Everyone.....thanks for all the comment luv. I don't think I'm pending any big decisions right now that are making me anxious...but yeah....something is going on with my head.
Maybe Zander kicking me in the head will "reboot" my brain so that whatever is bothering me will move along....
I too have the teeth dreams. Always freaks me out!
Have you googled anything about dream interpretations?
I've had dreams like this, but mine involve a pirate type ship.
I never see pirates just the same ship in different dreams.
The earliest I can remember seeing it was when I was about 10 or so.
I have no idea what it means or represents.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've been thru yours before when you were featured on SITS. I love this bloggy world and how it introduces us to more people :)
I love the Twilight series, although I am late in the game and only halfway thru the second book. I'm trying :D
I have horrible violent dreams...people chasing, catching and killing me!!! I'll take a great bridge dream over Freddie Krueger any day:-(
