My Dad and I were working out in the garage while my Mom was watching Z play outside. I had to run in for a potty break.
Dad: Hey, before you come back out...run downstairs and get the drill....and the green tool box with the screws.....and my saw off the workbench.
Me: The sawzall???
Dad: No.
Me: The jigsaw???
Dad: No....uh...the sabersaw....
Mom: You might as well bring everything on the workbench.

My mom and I were busy talking about things to buy for Z's swingset for his birthday.
Dad: Zander Zander Zander.....everything is always about Zander!
Me: We'll let you put the stuff on the swingset if you want!!!!
Dad: No, I want a gift too!!!

Sunday morning I kept Zander home.....so when he woke up we were able to have some snuggle time....
Me: Mommy loves you!!! Do you love mommy?
Z: Pawpaw
Me: Pawpaw???? What?

When my Dad was reading the instructions on cutting the basement door for the cat door they said " Take door to a reputable glazier for cutting glass"....or something like that.
When he read the instructions out loud he was trying to be funny and read "Take door to a Republican glazier for cutting glass". Then he turned to me and said, "Couldn't you find one for Democrats?"

My Dad is not of the persuasion! So....we have long discussions about what is going on in the world...he is who I learned from long ago...you better know what is going on in the world or the world will pass you by.

Your dad sounds like a character! And the part about Zander is HILARIOUS. When Porgie was younger, she would talk about "mama" all the time. I thought she was referring to me. But after she learned to point, I realized that she was referring to herself as "mama."
