So, I've started having Zander say a prayer at night before we go to bed. First of all, I want to teach him to pray. Secondly, I like to hear him talk because he sounds so dang cute.
So, last night's prayer went like this:
Me: Say I love you Jesus.
Z: I love you Jesus.
Me: Thank you for today.
Z: Thank you for today.
Me: Thank you for Mommy.
Z: Mommy.
Me: Thank you for Grandma.
Z: And Grandpa too.
Me: Thank you for my animals.
Z: And Chuck! (he is my parents' neighbor)
Me: What about Pat? Do you want to thank Him for Pat too? (she is Chuck's wife)
Z: uh huh
Me: Thank you for everything.
Z: Thank you, John.
Me: No, Jesus. We're thanking Jesus.
Me: Ok, say Amen.
Z: Amen
He's so sweet!
Thank you, Jesus, for my Zander!

Amen! Jesus, Mary & Joseph, that little boy is so cute! I have to say I've had only modest success with religion and my kiddos, but looks like you've got a good grip on the situation. And I guess it doesn't matter if Z is praying to John or to Jesus, as long as he says his prayers!
You're doing a good thing with Zander, I think. He may be a little confused, but you taking the time lets him know that you care. He'll grow up to be a stronger, more caring person because of the example you've set for him. Bravo!
